Raven

The aim of today's small oil painting was to see if I could use the limited palette of French Ultramarine, Permanent Rose and Cadmium Yellow Light (with white as necessary). It worked pretty well - I was able to get close to black by leaning in to the blue, lots of red and just a bit of yellow.

For the drawing, I did it directly with a paintbrush with the dark paint and a bit of linseed oil instead of water to thin it. It worked pretty well, and I was able to cover it thicker paint later without too much trouble.

The painting is 6x6 inch on Georgian oil painting paper, cut to size.

I am going to leave it to dry, and then add details on top.
